Whitney started nursing school this fall at BYU and loves it. As the school's motto indicates, nursing truly is the "Healer's Art". She has had many experiences in her clinical at an Alzheimer's Unit in Salt Lake testifying to this fact. On her first day, she washed someone's feet. A friend of hers felt the spirit of a patient's husband prompting her how to take care of his wife. In addition to all of the serious stuff, nursing is a lot of fun! Students learned how to give shots by giving them to each other--intradermal (just beneath the skin), deltoid (shoulder), subcutaneous (abdomen), and ventrogluteal (butt). Needless to say, all of the nursing students are getting to know each other very well! They were told to "dart" the needle in which was an interesting visual when getting ready to puncture someone's skin for the first time. No student hit bone so it was a good day!
