the REX E LEE run for cancer research was on saturday the 14th. amazingly, morgan agreed to run the 5k although running is not his forte. he ran with cortney and paul and jeff and melissa (picture below). i decided to run the 10k. about mile 5, i was wondering why i had decided to pay five dollars more for 3.1 miles more running.
luckily, i ran into mackenzie from home and kim from nursing school who both were also running the 10k. we were all grateful when we crossed the finish line as seen in our smiles. a bunch of us went to magleby's fresh for some amazing french toast afterwards which made my smile even bigger.
so while i usually leave the running thing to my division 1 athlete cousins, every now and then, it is fun to catch your stride, put one foot in front of the other, and remember the people who have been in your life who have fought cancer.

Yay for you, Whitney! Wanna hear a funny Tyler story? One Memorial Day all the boys and their dad were running in the Flojo Memorial Day 5k...about 2,000 people run in it. We got there about 6:00 a.m. so they could pick up their shirts and warm up. I was lugging 3-year-old Cambria around. It was so crowded, I lost track of being able to see them all at the finish, but the gun went off, and everyone was gone.
Cam and I hurried over to the finish line, and cheered as, one by one, they all ran across the line. First Josh, then Kevin, then Ethan, then Dillon...and still no Tyler. We were starting to get pretty worried after nearly an hour, since everyone else made it in under 25 minutes. Suddenly we had a thought... you don't think he accidentally went in the Half Marathon (a little over 13 miles), do you?
He did. He was warming up and heard a gun go off, and took off with the runners...15 minutes before the 5k started :)
After about two hours, Tyler came running in. He wasn't too excited about it at first, although he took third place in the 14-18 division. He was 14 at the time. We asked him, when did you realize you weren't in the 5k? He said, "I don't know... about mile 8?
LOL!
hey, i am so glad you decided to go and do this! One day, we have to something together.
